Day Trip - Cape Cod

We had a great excuse to go to Cape Cod last Saturday. Our friends Jenn and Ricky Alcantar were visiting Jenn’s grandmother at the Cape and we joined them for a few hours. To my surprise Roanna (aunt Ro) and Marzio were there as well!

We thought our trip there was only going to take a couple of hours; boy where we mistaken! We were stuck in traffic and it took us three and a half hours to get there! Traffic was backed up nine miles from one of the bridges that takes you into the Cape. Yes, NINE miles! Once we got on the Cape traffic was flowing smoothly. It was so good to see Jenn and aunt Ro! Last time we saw them was at Jenn & Ricky’s wedding in November.

After chatting and having lunch at grandma’s house, we went down to the pond next to her house and got in the row boat. I can’t remember when was the last time I’ve been on a tiny row boat but it was a lot of fun. Cameron started rowing but then he switched seats with Ricky so that Ricky could row. I was a little nervous as they maneuvered around the tiny boat; I was just picturing all of us flipping over and being soaking wet! Fortunately that didn’t happen and we all enjoyed the ride.

Later we drove to the beach. The little light house was just across the street from the beach. Since it was later in the day, it wasn’t that crowded. We walked on the beach and soaked our feet in the freezing water. We got a good workout and we started to get a little hungry.

Then we drove to Main Street and it was really crowded! There were tons of tourists walking around the little souvenir shops (us included of course). We headed towards Buffy’s Ice Cream – all of their ingredients are organic. I had a few spoonfuls of Cameron’s fat free yogurt because I didn’t want to spoil my dinner appetite.

As we walked around the shops, Jenn and Ricky noticed a new shop where they sold oils and vinegars. I’m so glad we went in there because it was such a neat and cute store! You can taste all of the oils and vinegars that you like. We tried different flavors of vinegars and my favorites were coconut, pear & cinnamon, blueberries and of course the traditional Balsamic vinegar aged over 18 years! We bought a bottle of the Balsamic vinegar; we wished we bought another one since it is SO good!

Outside the oil & vinegar store:
Our day ended by having dinner at a famous local restaurant. The food was really good but the company was even better! We had a great time with Marzio & aunt Ro and Ricky and Jenn. Thank you guys for having us!

On our way back home it only took us an hour and forty minutes! Unbelievable…there was absolutely no traffic!
