New England

Last Thursday not only did we celebrate 13 months of marriage, but we got news that will change our lives. We will be relocating to the Boston, MA area for a few years! We will be moving by the end of December; that doesn’t give us much time to pack and find a place to live so your prayers are greatly appreciated. Our trust is completely in God and we are certain that He will guide us to make the right decisions. We are excited and looking forward to the New England experience!

Gramp's Visit

Grampa Daniel Fulton came to visit us the second weekend of November. We had a great time with him! Matt, Jenny and the kids came along so we definitely had a full house! Gamp had the guest room while Matt, Jenny and the kids had to sleep in our living room. We moved our coffee table and set up an inflatable mattress (which happened to have a patch). Unfortunately the mattress deflated in the middle of the night and our guests ended up sleeping on the couch and the lazy boy.

Matt, Cam, Gramp and I went to the park early Saturday morning. Matt and Cam ran 5 miles, while Gramp and I walked around the park. It was so much fun, we talked the entire time! He told me about his family’s history, his military and professional career, and how he met his bride Barbara (I love this story!).

The weekend was all about Mexican food; I wanted Gramp to eat authentic Mexican food. Saturday morning we had huevos con chorizo, frijoles, y tortillas de harina (chorizo and eggs, beans and flour tortillas). For lunch we had caldo de res, limonada y tortillas de maiz (beef soup with vegetables, home made limeade and home made corn tortillas). Two weeks ago Cameron bought me the tortilla press and I love it because I can make my own corn tortillas!

We all went to the Air Force base after breakfast and looked at the military housing that Cameron has been working on. It is neat looking at how much progress they’ve made since they started the second phase (back in July is when they started pouring the concrete slabs and now they are installing cabinets!).

Matt and his family went camping on Saturday evening. After they left, Cameron thought it would be a good idea to take Gramp to a museum downtown and then to the old house that is being restored by Abilene’s Preservation League. We were able to walk inside and show Gramp the house and all the work that is needed. Since it was getting dark, we left the house and decided to drive around thru one of the major colleges (which has beautiful architecture).

At the museum: Frontier Texas

We had made dinner reservations to Perini Ranch Steakhouse in Buffalo Gap, TX (small town outside Abilene). The steaks were delicious and cooked to perfection (they would melt in your mouth!). Gramp said it has been one of the tenderest steaks he has ever had in his life!

Sunday morning we had banana-nut pancakes (we always have pancakes on Sundays) and then it was time to go to church. It was fun having our friends from church meet Gramp! When we got home from church, Matt and his family were back from camping and ready to take Gramp back with them to Dallas. We had a busy weekend, but it has been one of the most memorable in Abilene.

Aaron's Birthday

Last weekend we went to Matt & Jenny’s to celebrate Aaron’s fifth birthday. As always, we had a great time with friends and family and we enjoyed Jenny’s great cooking and baking! The party’s theme was Cowboys. The cake was amazing (made by Jenny of course) and even the birthday candles were cowboy boots. Aaron’s face was priceless when we sang Happy Birthday and he opened presents. When the evening was over, Aaron had played with ALL of his new toys and games.

The kids were ready to party hours before the party started! Uncle Cam asked them to pose for some pictures and all they came up with were goofy faces (maybe they were on sugar-high from eating Halloween candy) – Isabelle, Jacob, Jeremy and Aaron:

Monkies? Spiders? Dragons?

Jacob:

The birthday boy!

Beautiful cowboy cake:

Priceless smiles and giggles (check out the cowboy candles):

Blowing hard:

One of Aaron’s gifts was Lincoln Logs. He was so eager to open the logs and start playing with them:

He had to ask uncle Cam for help in opening the logs:
All the kids rushed in to start playing:

Even Matt and Cam enjoyed playing with the logs (it kept them very well entertained):
