Breakfast

Guess who emptied their plate first. Ana. Not because she ate it all, but because she left the table and Atenas reached up and took a few bites.

Cabbage

Our cabbage is ready and very good. We had it with bacon for dinner.

Girls

With my girls. Emma had just woken up from her nap and wanted to be held. Of course Ana didn't want to be left behind and wanted me to hold her as well. Good thing I'm able to hold both of them at the same time.

Swimming - Portsmouth Day Trip

We went down to Portsmouth, OH for the day to visit aunt Mary and her family. Emma was really excited because John & Nancy were also going to be there and aunt Mary has a swimming pool in her backyard. The weather was not looking good: scattered showers throughout the morning. The cool weather did not stop us and all the girls jumped in the pool while the guys went golfing.  We had a great time visiting. I'll post more family pictures later.

Ana's Mess

I turned around for a few seconds and that was enough time for Ana to create a mess. Her bib explains it well: I'm on Official Mess Duty.

Atenas with a Necklace

Which child do you think is responsible for putting this purple necklace on Atenas?

Eating Huevos con Chorizo

Ana surprised me this morning by eating the huevos con chorizo that I originally made for Emma. She can't deny het Mexican heritage.

Our First Peach!

Today we harvested our first good size peach from our dwarf peach tree that we planted last year. So exciting to see everything coming along.

We are also keeping a close eye on a "yellow squash". Cameron planted some squash and cantaloupe seeds on the same day in different locations. I think somehow the seeds got mixed up because what should be a yellow squash plant, it is producing what looks like canteloupes. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Quick Trip to Chicago

My parents are visiting us and that gave us the great opportunity for Cameron and I to take a quick trip to Chicago by ourselves and leave the girls behind with them. It was great! Our friend Carol opened her beautiful house and received us as guests. She was also our tour guide.  One thing that she told me on the phone as we were planning our trip was "bring your walking shoes" and she was right. Cameron calculated that we walked about 8 miles downtown Chicago.

We took the early express train to downtown Chicago.  Here we are at the Union Station:

We had a delicious breakfast at Lou Mitchell's.  The food and service were excellent. We were greeted by free donut holes and small boxes of Milk Duds.

This is a great view of the Buckingham Fountain and the Lake Michigan:

One of the highlights of our trip was the official Chicago Architecture Foundation river cruise. It was amazing, interesting and fun. We loved it!

One of our requests was to have deep dish pizza.  We went to Pizzeria Due and the pizza was very good. Here I am with Carol.

Thanks Carol! We had a wonderful time!
