Random Pictures

Last Sunday we went to downtown Boston to meet our friend Pami Lotinsky. She and other friends came over from Maryland for a wedding. Fortunately, we were able to meet with her for lunch and enjoy some of the tourist attractions from Boston. We told her she had to try the New England clam chowder and fried cod fish. We walked to Paul Revere’s house, the old North Church, Faneuil Hall/Quincy Market, and Boston Common.
My pink purse (gift from Nancy) was perfect with my lime green trench coat – I had to take the coat off because it stopped raining and the sun came out:

Acadia National Park, ME

We traveled to Acadia National Park in Maine for Labor Day weekend. We left on Saturday morning and drove five and half hours to the park. Atenas started acting a little weird as soon as we started driving. We had to bring her bed along since it is her comfort item.
Before leaving the house:

Once we got our stuff settled in our camp site, we walked to the coast and enjoyed the view. Atenas was having a great time with all the different smells but once we got to the rocky coast, she didn’t seem to be having so much fun because she had no traction under her paws.

Cameron started working on the fire and once we had good coals, he started cooking our dinner: steaks! Later we roasted marshmallows and had smores (there’s no dieting while we are camping!).

On Sunday we had our traditional pancakes for breakfast. I made the batter/mix at home and they came out pretty good. We relaxed for a little bit and then we went hiking to Cadillac Mountain (total of a little over 4 miles). Atenas was so excited once we started hiking; she was running (on the leash) and jumping around from one place to the other. As we were reaching the top, she started getting tired and Cameron had to carry her. Once we got to the top we had lunch and enjoyed the gorgeous views! Going down was a lot easier but again, towards the end Atenas was just too tired and she would stop walking and would just sit and stare at us. Cameron had to carry her one more time (only about a quarter of a mile). That night we had chili dogs for dinner...they were so good!

We noticed that some of the leaves are changing colors already:

Later that day we drove around the park and went to the Thunder Hole. The splashing of the waves makes a loud noise that sounds like thunder. The tide wasn’t that high but we could still hear the sound of the waves.

On Monday morning we had a light breakfast and started packing the car. The park didn’t have showers, but there was a place outside the park where you could take a 4 minute hot shower for $1.50. It was definitely a challenge to shower in 4 minutes, but it definitely felt good to get rid of the smoky/camping smell.

We had lunch at a place where they had BBQ and Lobster – quite a combination! I had a lobster roll and Cameron had a BBQ sandwich.

We came home a different way – a route next to the coast – and the views and towns were really enjoyable.

We stopped by two wineries (the wine tasting was free). We bought a total of 9 bottles of wine!!! The interior design in one of the wineries was so luxurious! The wallpaper was so extravagant, the staircase was beautiful and even the bathrooms were amazing. One of the bathrooms had crystal beads embedded on the wallpaper!!! The owner really paid attention to the décor of that place (this is where we bought most of the wine – 5 bottles).

This is part of the roof; Cameron didn't know what these are for. Does anyone know?

After being stuck in traffic for about 45 minutes (leaving Maine), we got home safely and unpacked everything. Atenas was going crazy running around our backyard. I guess she missed being home!
