Ana is officially walking!

No Nap

This is what happens when Emma doesn't nap: she falls asleep at the dinner table. She must be very tired to pass on food.

Fire Fighter Helmet

Emma still has fun getting things out of the kitchen cabinets. At least now she's old enough to pick up her mess.

Sharing a Popsicle

For these girls it is never too cold for a Popsicle. Ana is lucky that Emma wanted to share it with her.

Mary Poppins

April 20th is finally here! We've been waiting for this day a long time because Emma and I are going to see Mary Poppins the musical. So much fun!

Emma at 8:30 AM

I had to go out on an emergency errand yesterday morning and I left the girls home with their dad. When I came home, I noticed that Emma had changed her clothes.

You can never go wrong with a fancy dress and high heels:

Fighting Nap Time

The girls and I are spending the night at John & Nancy's. Ana went down for her nap just fine but I can't say the same of Emma. She kept fighting her nap until she finally gave up and laid on the couch.  Little stinker!

Climber

We left the kitchen for a few seconds and when we came back we found Ana climbing the kitchen stool (recently used by Emma).

Ana - Cheesecake and Candle

Today after church we stayed at Gramp's house to celebrate Ana's number one birthday (almost two weeks late). Fortunately both girls are healthy and we were able to celebrate Ana's birthday with our family. I kept things simple and I made Ana a cheesecake.

Getting ready to blow that candle:

Ana got a little help blowing the candle from her sister (you can see Emma on the bottom left):

Now let me explain why I wanted to post these series of pictures.  As we were all enjoying our cheesecake, Ana kept signing "more" to aunt Jan who was nearby. Poor Ana, I had forgoten to give her a piece of her own birthday cheesecake! She got her share and she enjoyed it but I don't think she was very happy at me for not giving her a piece in the first place.

Family Picture

I think this is the most decent family picture that we took today:

But on this one, Ana (the birthday girl) has the best smile and you can see the third upper tooth:

Ana - Getting Ready to Walk

Today at Gramp's house Ana gave four steps on her own. That's the most she's ever done and she was very proud of herself. For now I don't mind her dragging me all over the place; we are enjoying this phase very much but I know Ana can't wait to let go and go after Emma or Atenas.

Blossoms

Spring is finally here! Last year we got two dwarf fruit trees and this is the first spring that we see their blossoms.  We hope they produce a good crop this year.

Peach blossoms:

These blossoms are from our magnolia tree.  Only a couple more days and they'll be in full bloom.

Multi Purpose Kitchen

I was in the kitchen with both girls; one was needy and tired (Emma) and the other one was eating and needed to use the potty(Ana). After Ana and I came back to the kitchen, we found Emma sleeping on the kitchen floor.

Emma seems to be quite comfortable and instead of hugging a stuffed animal as a comfort item, she's hugging her shoe.  There's never a dull moment around kids.

Going for a ride

Today was such a nice spring day that we took an evening walk. It was Ana's first time in the wagon and she did pretty good. Emma on the other hand ended up unbuckled and with her seat down but she remained seated and had a great attitude (I guess she felt like a bog girl).

Neck Art

Emma decided to try something different with her creativity. She used stickers on Ana's neck. Very clever. I'm just glad Emma didn't decide to use markers on her sister's neck!

Ana turns ONE

Happy Birthday Ana!

What is Ana up to these days? Well, she's still crawling but mostly she likes you to hold her hand so she can walk. She's still napping twice a day. Ana only has two bottom teeth and I can see her upper left tooth coming out. She's signing simple signs (more, water, eat, milk, sleep). She's saying a few words and surprisingly she's telling us when she wants to poop (this started a day before she turned 11 months).

Sorry, Ana doesn't look that happy due to her cold and cough.

Coffee table art

Emma told me she was making a "kitty cat". Unfortunately she didn't mention where she was drawing it: our coffee table.

Ana is sick

It feels like the kids have been sick with colds and coughs for the past six months!

Planting flower seeds

A week ago we were deep in snow and now we are getting our garden ready for the season. Yesterday Emma helped her dad plant marigold seeds. While they were working in the garden, they had a curious visitor: the neighbor cat. Of course Emma wanted to pet the kitty.
