Gift from uncle Job

My brother Job sent these cute fleece pajamas to Emma.

Sharing a Gordita

The other day I made some sweet flour gorditas. The first time I had these gorditas was over ten years ago in Juarez. Lupita Maldonado would feed them to my aunt Hilda and me for breakfast every morning along with oatmeal. I would always ask for the recipe and finally last February when I went down to Juarez, Lupita taught me how to make them.

When Cameron came home for lunch yesterday, he had a gordita for dessert and shared it with Emma.

At first Emma didn't know what to do:
Since she puts everything in her mouth these days, she decided to give it a try:
Tongue first:
Then big bites:

Gummy Smile

My friend Amanda recommended to take as many pictures as possible of the cute "gummy smiles" because once Emma's teeth come out, her smile will never be the same.

Waking Up

Emma wakes up every morning with a lot of energy and very happy. She always greets us with a big smile and kicking her feet. Here she is in her pajamas and night cap.

After Walden Pond

Emma woke up as soon as we got back to the car from visiting Walden Pond. She was having fun with Daddy.

Walden Pond

Yesterday afternoon we went to Walden Pond. Henry David Thoreau lived at Walden Pond for two years and his experience there helped write his book Walden. His writtings in this book inspired nature awareness and respect for the environment and now Walden Pond is a National Historic Landmark and is considered the birthplace of the conservation movement. Louisa May Alcott also mentions Walden Pond in her book Little Women.
Emma was kept warm at all times:

The water was cold and very clear:

All that hiking made Emma sleepy:
Walden Pond is also a big attraction for swimmers:
Here is Thoreau's one-room cabin replica:

Good morning sunshine

The sun came out for a few minutes this morning and the view was so pretty that I had to go outside and take a few pictures. The temperature was in the low 40s and I'm afraid it won't get a lot warmer late today.

Eating her Toes

Emma is enjoying playing with her feet and recently she's been trying to eat them. She's in that phase where she puts every thing in her mouth.

The Old Manse

Last Monday our neighbors, Emma and I went to visit the Old Manse. We've walked by this old house so many times and we finally decided to go inside and look around. This house is full of rich history. It was built in 1770 by minister William Emerson and since the house sits very close to the Old North Bridge, they were able to witness the famous battle against the British.
We couldn't take pictures inside the house. In each room of the first floor there was guide who told us interesting facts about the house. We also toured the second floor and the attic. The attic was my favorite part of the house. There are five bedrooms in the attic and each room told its own story. Most of the walls and beams are exposed, so it was neat to look at the construction of this old house.
We were there for over two hours and Emma enjoyed our visit and did not complain at all.

Pumpkin

We've had this small pumpkin since my parents were here. My dad bought the pumpkin from our local farmer; he wanted to roast it but I kept telling him that I wanted pictures of Emma with it before cooking it. Finally we were able to go outside to take some pictures.

Saying Goodbye at the Airport

Last Saturday we had to say goodbye to my parents. We had a great time with them and we all got spoiled. My mom cleaned the kitchen, my dad worked in the yard and the garden, and they both cooked delicious meals. Our freezer is completely full of food that my parents prepared for us. We won't be buying meat anytime soon!
Emma got used to having attention all day and this past week was a little hard on her. Fortunately I think she's back on her routine and has been entertaining herself while I do other things around the house.

Here we are with my parents before leaving for the airport:
I don't think Emma wanted to let them say goodbye to her abuelos; look at her sad face:

It was great having my parents visit us and hopefully we can see them again soon!
