Quick Stop from Dear Friends

Yesterday our friends the Livengoods made a quick stop at our house before heading back home. It was great having the Livengoods here and learning what the Lord is doing down in Juarez in the ministry they serve.

Here we are, the moms with our kiddos. Markie (7), Abby (almost 6), Ana (1) and Emma (3).

Abby is such a sweet girl:

Ana woke up from her nap without her bandage.  Good thing she didn't try to pull her stitches off. Perla held her while I addressed the wound. Ana seems quite content.

Ana - Stitches

Ana got her first set of stitches this morning. She pulled a glass decoration  from front entrance table, it broke and cut her upper foot.

I called a friend who is a pediatric nurse and she came over to assess the damage. She helped control the bleeding but recommend taking her in to get stitches. The stitches will be in for at least 10 days.

It could have been worse, right?

At Splash Pad

We went to the park with the splash pad this morning. Emma loved getting wet. She tried to get her sister to join her but Ana preferred to play with a bucket full of water under the shade.

I packed lunch for the girls because I knew it was going to be very hard to get Emma away from the splash pad. I have to admit that I bribed Emma when it was time to go with a popsicle back home. Both girls took nice long naps. I'm sure we'll be going there quite often this summer.

Exploring & Eating at the park

Ana - Ears Pierced

Today Ana got her ears pierced. We got them done at the pediatrician's office and Ana did great. She cried for a few minutes but she was fine even before the doctor left the room. Here are pictures of Ana as we were waiting on the doct and after we left the office. Notice that on both pictures Ana is eating (that's a trick to keep her happy).

Tadpoles

Our neighbor invited Emma to see the tadpoles she got before releasing them in her pond. Emma loves going over. She gets to feed the fish and pet the neighbor's three kitties. I'm glad she has a love for animals and that she is well behaved.

Emma in Red Shoes

Emma's been wanting a pair of sparkly red shoes for a long time. We haven't found them yet but we found some really cute red polka dot shoes and she loves them. Today she wanted to wear a dress and have her hair in two braids. She looked really cute.

Her three braids (I'm glad her hair is finally getting long enough for me to braid it!):

Sleeping with Bunny

Emma never had a comfort item when she was a baby and that is why I love that Ana seems to snuggle and hug her bunny when she sleeps.   Last night I went in and took some pictures of Ana in her crib with her bunny.  Really cute!

At the Garden

Here are the girls in our garden. Emma picked the onions and strawberries while Ana just sat on her chair and ate her snack. Ana later grabbed Emma's strawberry, sat on the big wooden chair and ate the whole strawberry (including leaves and stem).

Emma eating dinner

Tonight we had grilled t-bones for dinner along with green grilled onions from our garden.

Both girls really enjoyed the meat. I think my dad would be really proud of Emma - she cleaned the bone.

First Pansie

We got our first pansie from the seeds we planted during Emma's birthday party back in March.

Girls with Nancy

John and Nancy came up for a visit yesterday and they took Emma back home with them. This is the second time that Emma spends two nights away from home. She's having a great time and she says she doesn't want to come back home just yet. I think Ana is also having a great time just having all our attention to herself.

I took this picture right before Emma left us yesterday. She's wearing her new swimsuit & flip flops (bought with birthday money from aunt Eunie & uncle Dick) even though she was no where near a pool. I love that she's hugging Mei Mei (Nancy) while Mei Mei is trying to keep an eye on Ana.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed and maybe next time Nancy will agree to take both kids home with them.

New Flower Pots

These pot stands came from Mexico. My parents brought them last time they came for a visit. We got new terra cota pots and geraniums earlier today. Now our little patio corner is complete.

After Nap

Here's Ana waking up from today's nap. She was hugging her bunny.

Ana - 14 Months

Ana is fourteen months old today. She's so much fun and active. She still only has four teeth (it's in her genes) but she is eating like a three year old. She just learned how to scream with a high pitch and we can thank Emma for that. Some of her favorite words are agua, papá, mamá, popo, Ana, Tete (Atenas), no, gracias, oh-oh and something that sounds like "don't do that" (we can thank Cameron for that one).  Her favorite sign is still "more" and surprisingly the sign is not followed by the word more or más, just a grunt. It is fun seeing her interact with Emma and now they are in the stage where they can entertain each other and play together.
