Yellow!

The fall foliage is at its peak. Atenas and I went on a quick walk across the street from our neighborhood to the cemetery to take some pictures of the colorful oak trees. This was our first time in that cemetery and Atenas was having so much fun with all the different smells.

Friday Night Fun

We went over to Mary’s house, our neighbor, for a costume party. We enjoyed great finger food, games and just meeting other people. In my opinion, our next door neighbors Muriel and Christian (who are fluent in Spanish, French and English) had the best costumes.

How we celebrated?

Cameron surprised me with flowers (noticed all the shades of PINK!); they are beautiful and they smell fantastic. We stayed at home, went out for a walk, cooked dinner together (chiles rellenos), opened a bottle of wine and enjoyed a homemade pumpkin-pecan cheesecake! The night was perfect!

Next month we’ll be going to Germany and we’ll be spending an extra night in Iceland!

Aunt Jan’s Visit

Aunt Jan spent some days visiting us and we had a great time with her. The weather cooperated with her visit and we were able to visit many tourist attractions around our area. We enjoyed morning walk to the North Bridge, a tour around the Orchard House, a day in downtown Boston, visit to the New England Aquarium, walk around Battle Road, and dinner at great restaurants!

The last night she was here, aunt Jan invited us to have dinner at the Colonial Inn which was established in 1716 and played a big role in the historical events during the first battles in the Revolutionary War. Dinner was delicious and we had a great time laughing and enjoying each other's company!

Another Birthday!

Yesterday we celebrated my dear husband’s birthday. The day started by Nancy calling at 6 AM to wish him happy birthday (she was going to call at 5 AM, the actual time when he was born). Then, while he was still in bed, I went online and played Las MaƱanitas with mariachis and I sang along (if Nancy’s call didn’t wake him up, my beautiful voice certainly did!).
This year he requested a lemon cake with cream filling/frosting. The frosting is homemade and is from aunt Mary’s recipe. Cameron LOVES this creamy frosting and it was a lot easier to make it this time with my kitchen aid mixer! The cake came out pretty good.

We had dinner at a local Chinese restaurant and after opening gifts and taking a long walk, we lit the candles and cut the cake.

Three years ago, I got him a shirt for his birthday (which he still wears).

Two years ago, our marriage license was signed (so he got himself a wife), I got him a watch (which he chose) and had dinner at a nice Mexican restaurant in Juarez.

Last year he got himself another shot gun, I baked him a cake, and had dinner at a local BBQ restaurant in Abilene, TX.

This year he’s getting a set of weights, a workout bench and we are going to Germany next month. Oh yeah, and he’s getting ready to be a father (early April 2010)!

Fall Colors

The trees are slowly showing their fall colors. Earlier this week I had to bring the camera along during my morning run to snap a few shots of the bright colors.

We still have a few flowers:

I even spotted a few great blue herons:

NE Patriots vs. ATL Falcons

Last Sunday we had the opportunity to go to a Patriots’ game. Our local church is located only about six miles away from Gillette Stadium so we headed to the game after the Sunday service was over. The amazing thing was that in the morning on our way to church we saw various cars/SUVs heading towards the stadium with their grills and coolers; they were heading towards the stadium to start their tailgate party!

It rained all day on Sunday, so we geared up with comfortable shoes/outfits and of course we couldn’t forget our ponchos. Traffic wasn’t that bad on our way to the stadium. Once we got to the general parking we were shocked by the price: $40.

There were hundreds of tailgaters; these people are professionals!

We had good seats (row 14) and we could see the action right in front of us without the need of the big screens.

The Patriots won the game so the crowd was pleased!
