Window - Collage

I gave my parents this window along with pictures of the girls. Now the window collage is in their home office and it looks great!

Finally in Juarez!

After VERY early flights, we arrived this morning to El Paso. Emma immediately wanted to go to Mexico. Today they had their first experience trying Mexican ice cream. It was delicious! And the best part is that they are speaking Spanish!

Family Picture - Lunch

Saying Goodbye to Mrs. G

Mrs. G, the youth services librarian, is retiring and today was her last day. We've known her since Emma was only sixteen months.  It was amazing seeing how she could keep the attention of 30+ kids during story time. Mrs. G did an excellent job in keeping kids interested in reading. She will be dearly missed.

Butterfly

Saw this monarch butterfly sniffing our zinnias.

Cocoa Swirl Coffee Cake

We made this cake last night to share with those that work at our local YMCA. We go there six days a week and we just wanted to do something special for them.

Our First Cantaloupe

The first cantaloupe from our garden was very sweet and juicy. The girls loved it!

Gramp's Surprise Birthday Party

Today we celebrated Gramp's surprise birthday party in a private room of an Irish pub in Hamilton. He will turn ninety this Friday. I had the privilege of organizing the party, making the decorations and desserts and it was SO much fun. I think I just found a new hobby!

The colors were black, white and gold. The table runners were black and white wrapping paper! The centerpieces were broken tree branches sprayed painted gold with old pictures hanging. It was a lot of fun going through old photo albums. I also spray painted little plastic airplanes to commemorate Gramp's years as a pilot during WWII.

Gramp's favorite cake: cherry pie! I've never made cherry pie before in my life! I got a couple of good books from the library and got familiar with the recipe. Tart cherries are out of season already, so I had to stick with frozen cherries (from Michigan, of course!). The pie came out really good and beautiful!

I also made cupcakes and chocolate dipped strawberries. Emma helped me with the strawberries and she did an amazing job!

Overall, we all had a great time. Gramp was trully surprised and he really enjoyed his party.

Emma - Party Dress

My cousin wore this dress to my wedding almost seven years ago.  Now Emma gets to wear it and she loves it!

Zinnias

Our zinnias are HUGE and beautiful! I planted them right before Mother's Day (quite risky since we could have gotten a late frost) and they've been producing flowers like crazy!

Succulents

My hand-me-down succulents seem to be doing well. A few are even flowering! The latest addition to my ssucculent collection are two plants that the girls picked at Trader Joe's. Emma picked the "purple" plant since that is her favorite color.

Fun times with my girls!
