Circa 1886 Restaurant

We had dinner reservations at Circa 1886 Restaurant. The restaurant is located at the carriage house of the original Wentworth Mansion. When it was first constructed by FrancisSilas Rogers, it was for his family of thirteen!

Entrance to Circa 1886 Restaurant - formerly the carriage house to the mansion.

We were welcomed with an asparagus soup, cheese and salami.

We decided to order the five course meal. We did not do the wine pairing as we were having a bottle of champagne (a gift from Cameron’s friend Marshall) and drinks.

First course
Southern grilled cheese: pimento cheese mousse, grilled brioche, prosciutto, and paddlefish caviar

Second course
Heart of Palm, truffle saffron grits, mushroom ragu (my favorite), pea puree, veggie demiglace

Third course
Garlic Striped Bass with ginger butter, baby book choy, smoked salmon wonton, tomato lemon grass broth

Fourth course
Sous Vide Pork Belly with annatto, crispy egg yolks, blood orange fell, asparagus, radish and racketeering Velouté.
I asked Francesco, our waiter, how long was the pork belly cooked in the sous vide. He had to ask chef Collins for the answer. It was a total of thirty-six hours!

Sweet Finish
Pumpkin soufflé with salted caramel sauce, roasted pepitas, and white chocolate ice cream.

It was a perfect dinner that we will never forget.
