County Fair | Market Chickens

We bought fifty Cornish Rock Cross chicks from a hatchery in Cincinnati. I took the girls and their friends to go get the chick on June 1st; they were just a day old. We had them for eight weeks before they were processed. Emma and Ana each took a pen of three market chickens to the county fair. Cameron built a chicken tractor and we had that at our friend’s farm. The girls went every morning to feed them, change their bedding, give them fresh water and make sure they were okay. Unfortunately we lost eight when they were a couple of weeks old due to a leaky waterer and they got too cold overnight. Lesson learned.

The chicks are very cute when they are little but they sure are ugly during their “teenage weeks”.
