Running out of Room!

This morning we woke up to 10 inches of snow and we are running out of room for it. Some of our snow banks are more than six feet high, our mailboxes are almost covered by the snow, and we are still far away from the spring.

Here's our long driveway:

I hope the mailman doesn't have problems finding our mailbox!
Our neighbor's street light will be gone with the next snow storm:

Freezing at the North Bridge

We decided to go for a quick walk to the North Bridge. It was really cold therefore we had to bundle up more than usual. Emma didn't seem to mind the weather because she was falling asleep!

Snow Shoeing

Cameron and my dad went snow shoeing. This was a new experience for my dad and he had a great time. The snow had a perfect consistency and the weather was not that cold (upper teens).
My dad did a great job keeping up with Cameron:
After snow shoeing, my dad grilled some t-bones for lunch. We opened a bottle of red wine and had a delicious meal. I bet my dad never imagined that he would be grilling outside in freezing temperatures.

Warm Day

Last week we enjoyed one warm day with temperatures in the high 20s. We've had so much snow this season that I'm afraid it will be here until April. Our snow banks are getting higher and higher and the one next to the road reaches more than six feet tall. For now we just take it one day at a time and we try to enjoy our warm days as much as possible.

Here we are with my parents. Notice that they are NOT wearing any coats.

Giving us a Break

Is it fair to put our visitors to work? It has been great having my parents around since they are more than willing to help around the house. My mom has already cleaned my oven, cooks every day, looks after Emma and my dad is fixing things around the house and shoveling our driveway.
This morning while my mom was looking after Emma, my dad and I went outside to shovel our driveway. It was still snowing but we wanted to get a head start and have it ready for whenever Cameron came home for lunch. The snow was getting thicker and unfortunately Cameron didn't make it for lunch and we also had a couple of extra inches of snow to shovel. Luckily, our neighbors got a new snow blower and they said we can use it. My dad had a lot of fun blowing their driveway and ours!

Here's my dad shoveling the path in our backyard for Atenas:

Family Pictures

My dad insisted that we should all go out and take pictures with all the snow. It was very cold and a little windy. We tried to take the pictures as quickly as possible. I'm sure the snow will be here for a LONG time and maybe we can go out again whenever it is a little warmer.

Christmas in January

My parents arrived last night from Mexico. They brought with them an entire suitcase filled with Mexican food (that I had requested) and another suitcase with lots of Christmas presents. We had decided to have Christmas in January during their visit. Emma had a lot of fun opening and tearing up the wrapping paper.

Resemblance?

My parents gave me this picture of when I was seven or eight months old. I think Emma looks so much like me except that she doesn't have that much hair!

Day after the blizzard

The sun came out the day after the blizzard and it wasn't that cold. Some of the schools were still closed, the roads were cleared and Cameron had to go to work. Emma and I went outside and joined our neighbors to have some fun in the snow. Although Emma never touched the snow, I could tell whe was happy to be out and see that everything was white!

The kids built a sledding hill.
I was very tempted ...maybe next time I'll join them.
Here we are with Muriel. I can assure you that Emma was having fun, she just happened to look very serious in this picture.

January Blizzard

Yesterday we had our first blizzard of the season; we got a total of 14 inches (probably more since there was a lot of wind shifting the snow). Cameron couldn't go to work because the Air Force base was closed therefore he got to stay home with his girls and do some shoveling. It snowed all day and the heavy snow was in the morning. By the time we woke up everything was white. Cameron started shoveling the snow around 10 AM and he made a path in the driveway so that Atenas could go out into the road and do her business. After a while I took over the shoveling and Cameron took over Emma. I really enjoy shoveling, it is a great workout but yesterday at the end of the day we were all exhausted!

We have always said that one of the best things of living in this house is having great neighbors. Yesterday we were helping each other out shoveling our driveways while our dogs were running lose and enjoying the snow. Unfortunately since it snowed all day, Emma couldn't go outside to experience her first blizzard.

First thing in the morning, Cameron had to dig a path throught the driveway for Atenas:
I was responsible for clearing our entry way. Notice that the snow almost reaches the second step:

"Date Night" in Ohio

Our last night in Ohio, John & Nancy offered to watch Emma so that Cameron and I could have a date night. I think it was the first time that I've been away from Emma for that long (close to 4 hours) but it was great! Since we hadn't really spent much time with Gramp and aunt Jan, we decided to give them a visit. It was great spending some alone time with them!
