Combined Birthday Party

Emma turned 13 on March 19th and Ana is turning 11 on April 2nd, so we decided to have a combined birthday party. The girls invited their friends from church and they all had a great time.

Emma is THIRTEEN!

It’s official, Emma is a teenager!  We woke up really early because Ana had a gymnastics meet an hour away. After the meet we had birthday lunch at Rancheros where the staff sang Happy Birthday in Spanish and gave her a tres leches cake. She is turning into a beautiful young lady and our desire is that she would love the Lord with all her heart.

Wellspring Church - Chili Cook Off

For the second year in a row, Emma and her friend Shealyn won our church’s chili cook off! There were around twenty different chilis. There were four prizes awarded: kids’ choice, adult 1st, adult 2nd, and adult 3rd. Emma and Shealyn’s chili got a total of 15 votes. The girls were very excited to win again!

Red amaryllis

I’ve had this amaryllis for about four or five years. It was a gift from aunt Jan’s friend when she came over for Thanksgiving.  This is the first time that it has flowered with four blooms! It looks beautiful!

First Try at Raised Bed Garden

Cameron has done research in raised bed gardens, square foot gardening and small farm gardening. Back in our old house, after being there for ten years, the soil in our garden was light and fluffy. Full of nutrients added by our compost pile.

Our soil in our new house is clay! We will have to get sand and some top soil for the raised beds (which we got in Amazon almost two years ago and just now got them out of the box). We started a compost pile when we first moved here but I don’t think it is quite ready yet. Maybe it will be in May when it is time to plant. Otherwise we have friends that have cow and horse manure.

Sunday was a gorgeous day and we turned the soil for the first raised bed. We decided to have the garden outside the fenced in area. The chickens will be free ranging in a few months and we don’t want them eating our garden or digging the plants out. They certainly love to do that. We’ll see how it goes.

Valentine’s Mailboxes

The girls worked hard on this year’s Valentine’s Day mailboxes. Emma’s was a Minion and Ana’s an animal shelter. Beautiful!
