101 Days of School

Yesterday the first graders celebrated 101 days of school by dressing up as dalmatians and having different special activities throughout the  day.

India Republic Day

Last Sunday we went to Charity Baptist church to join the Indian community in celebrating India's Republic Day.  Sudeshna, my friend from our local YMCA, let me borrow her sari for this event.  The sari was beautiful! Sudeshna and her husband joined us at Charity.  The event was a great success.  Lots of Indian people from our community attended a church for the first time and they got to hear the Gospel. We also enjoyed traditional Indian dishes.  The girls love Indian food and so do we!

Seven Degrees

We woke up to snow, cold temperatures, and beautiful sunshine! It is seven degrees and the girls are outside playing.  Emma wanted me to take a picture of the frozen rope that's hanging in our front tree.  It is holding its shape!

Getting Ready for Valentine's Day

The girls had early dismissal at school last Friday and we went over to Hamilton.  Nancy had a craft ready for the girls.  They painted shirts for Valentine's day.  Emma came up with the designs, a hamster and a puppy, and drew both of them on the shirts.  Ana painted and decorated the puppy and Emma decorated the hamster.  The shirts turned out really cute!

Railing Almost Done

I primed and painted the oak railing for the upstairs. We've had that railing for many years (approximately 10 years); it was leftover from a project in Massachusetts.  I'm glad we finally got to use it.

Our First Big Snow

We finally got some good snow this winter! The girls are loving it. I think Atenas might be having flashbacks of when we lived in Massachusetts and snow was a guarantee.

COSI- Columbus OH

As our last family activity of the year, we headed to Columbus, OH to visit COSI (Center of Science and Industry). The girls really enjoyed the exhibitions where most of the stuff was hands on.

Taqueria Los Guachos

Yesterday before going to COSI we made a slight detour to northern Columbus to visit a Mexican taco restaurant. They are famous for their tacos al pastor and we were not disappointed.

New Year's Eve Dinner

Last night after COSI we went over to our neighbors' for dinner and games. We had homemade pizza which the girls helped Miss Susie put together. So much fun!
