Summer Reading Club

Our library has a lot of activities for the kids throughout the summer.  Emma is part of their summer reading club.  She already likes us to read to her (and even pays attention) and we hope that as she grows up she develops a love for books.

Here she is in yesterday's summer activity decorating a star:

Sisterly Love

Emma wanted me to take a picture of her with Ana.  Emma even requested a bow for her hair!

The bow only lasted for a few seconds but the picture still came out cute:

Ana just loves those fingers:

Ana couldn't stay behind while Emma had all the fun in her pool.  Here she is in her swim suit given to her by her great aunt Mary:

Emma - Pool

Emma loves the water.  She loves taking showers and baths and of course jumping in the pool.  A couple of weeks ago we went to a birthday party and they set up their small pool for the kiddos.  Emma loved every minute of it.

We also have a small pool that Emma got for her birthday (thanks aunt Mary!).  We set it up every time it gets too hot.  The water is freezing cold but that doesn't stop Emma from jumping in.  Last time she decided to put her chair in it.

And this is what happens when Daddy is watching her! It was a little breezy that day, overcast and of course she wasn't even wearing her swim suit (not to mention she still had a runny nose).

Don't blame mom for her unmatching outfit; Emma HAS to wear pants at nap time and she chose to wear those pink stripped ones.  Of course she doesn't want to change back to shorts once she wakes up and that is one of those "pick your battles" moments that I chose to ignore.  Crazy kid!

Ana with her Abuelos

Family Portraits

The last day my brother Jorge was here we took some family pictures.  Cameron was in the one in charge of the camera and I think he did a good job.

Emma was not very happy since she was suffering from a cold.  Poor thing, she was very clingy but it could have been worse.

Here we are with my parents and my grandma (Ana was sleeping most of the time):

Mamá Nena, Abuela, Ana, Emma and Caro:

Ana didn't even notice we were taking pictures:

Emma is MIA (she was clinging to me while I was taking the picture):

Yes, people feel tempted in squeezing Ana's cheeks (Emma does it too):

Abuelo's Truck

There's something about pickup trucks that Emma adores.  Here she is goofying around in her abuelo's truck (she does the same thing in her dad's truck).

Air Force Museum

We visited the Air Force Museum.  Our favorite part is always visitng the hangars that hold the Presidential and Research & Development galleries.

Presidential Seal is on the exit door:

You have to love those pictures where kids pick their nose! (Four generations)

Can't remember when was the last time I had a picture by myself with Emma:

Ana is making a funny face:

Mamá Nena & Tio Jorge

We had more visitors earlier this month. My parents drove up here and they brought my brother Jorge and my grandma along (we call her Mamá Nena). It was their first time meeting the girls and it didn't take long for Emma to warm up to them. Ana warms up pretty much to anyone who is willing to carry her around.

Ana and Mamá Nena:

Emma playing with Tio Jorge:

Mamá Nena wanted to make us flour tortillas and gorditas almost every day. That was quite a treat. Of course Emma wanted to be involved in the process and she "helped" Mamá Nena with the tortillas. One night they both made sweet potato empanadas and they turned out really good.

Guess which one is Emma's:
